Virginia Deer Classic

Hosted by Virginia Deer Hunters Association

This is your chance to see the biggest bucks taken in Virginia. The contest is hosted and organized by the Virginia Deer Hunters Association (VDHA). Deer hunters throughout the Old Dominion will bring their mounts to this prestigious contest. Certified judges from the VDHA and Virginia Department of Game and Inland Fisheries will be awarding trophies and ribbons in four antler classes; Citations will also be given by the VDHA.

Classes are as follows:

6 points and below, 7 & 8 points, 9, 10, 11 points and 12 points and above.

Divisions are:

Gun, Bow, crossbow, Youth 17 and under, muzzleloader and women with typical and non-typical in each class. Hunters must have a certified Virginia Game Check Card or their confirmation number on their hunting license from the Game Department’s Telephone Checking System, in order to enter a deer in the contest. In addition there is a Historical Division that includes any deer taken from a previous season in Virginia. Historical division entries do not require a game check card. Instead the honor system will be used for entry. This year’s contest will be judged under the Boone and Crocket scoring system.

The VDHA will begin taking entries on Friday of the show from 4p.m. to 9 p.m. and continue again on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the deadline at 5 p.m. There will no exceptions after the deadline Saturday. All entries will be returned on Sunday at 5 p.m. with awards being presented in the seminar area starting at 5 p.m. There is a $25 entry fee, which also provides a one year membership in the VDHA. In addition to contest entry and membership in the VDHA all contestants in the Virginia Deer Classic will receive a three day show pass.
